Learn to cultivate a deeper understanding and awareness of bandhas in your practice.
Workshop 2 – Sadhana – Cultivating a spiritual practice in the Modern World
Saturday 25th Nov (11 – 1 pm)
In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali gives us three essential components to Sadhana that address issues arising in the body, mind and spirit. Using the Sutras as a guide, we will see how these ancient techniques are related to current practices of yoga.
Workshop 3 – Ashtanga Yoga as a Mirror for Self Study & Questions
Saturday 25th Nov (2 – 4.30pm)
An opportunity for students to ask practice related questions or other yoga related questions. This is a chance to receive guidance regarding the biomechanics of troublesome asanas, techniques for addressing particularly dense areas of the body, and new strategies to work intelligently and therapeutically to support the healing of old injuries.
Workshop 4 – Strengthing the Spine through a Gentle introduction to Second Series
Sunday 26th Nov (11am- 1.30pm)
Nadi Shodhana is the name given to the Second Series of the Ashtanga Yoga system. However, the first few postures of this series are classical asanas that are beneficial and accessible to every one, regardless of your level of experience. Many benefits can be derived from learning these postures directed towards cultivating more strength in the spine and a more open and receptive heart.
The journey of practice is often not linear. We will look at how to modify your physical practice in the transitional stages of life. We will explore how to modify the asana practice during times of stress or injury, to help nurture and take care of our emotional & psychological health! This workshop will address difficult questions that come up during times of struggle or stagnation in the practice. Feel free to bring your tough questions! Some areas will be specific to women in the practice such as: menstruation, preparing to conceive, pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause.
